I was glad to come upon your advice post for ahoutrs .It is apt advice.I hope that writers will read the post and will follow your advice. I hope that they will realize the golden opportunity, the chance they have to make a connection with the audience at their book event. I hope that they will invite their friends, relatives and co-workers to be part of their audience. In other words, that they will do all in their power to bring something of value to the audience, and do their best to benefit their book.I say: don't let that golden moment pass you by; make use of it!I can't help but add this:Andi, you have given so many ahoutrs such a great gift; your efforts have made a way for many writers to find a venue, and to step forward and spread the news about their books. Some of them, especially those without the backing of big publishers, were likely at a loss, and not sure of the first steps they should take with their books. And so they hesitated, and some of them came to a stop, and gave up because they were afraid to go on. But some ahoutrs (ME for one!) lucked out and somehow were guided along a path that led to you. And these lucky ones have met with your unexampled generosity, encouragement, and support. Many are grateful. I am grateful. But, it is not just the ahoutrs that you have benefited. You have benefited the book stores that hosted the readings and sold books. You have benefited the audience that came and learned something new, and you have greatly benefited the community. When YOUR BOOK is published; I hope, and predict, that all those people will be there for your event. It should be the biggest book signing event of the year because it should be attended by all of those that you have guided, befriended and benefited. Those people are so glad that our lucky star guided us to you. You lighted our path and helped us forward. Please let us return that favor and shine a light for you if you ever need it.And, please, don't make us wait until your book signing to return the favor. I'm here. Tell me when and where, and I'll be there if you happen to need some help to set up an event, or if you just need a friend with a flashlight.Because, sometimes the path forward is a little scary and dark.
